Abacus is a calculating instrument with Beads and Rods. Abacus learners are trained to work with the instrument and later visualise the instrument to perform the same calculations. In this process of performing mental arithmetic calculations, they use visual, auditory and sensory inputs to analyse and solve problems. While improving coordination between the left and the right brain, practising abacus regularly also improves visual memory and overall learning ability. These findings are supported by scientific researches done in Japan and China in the mid 90's
